Terracotta Floral
Terracotta, no one could make me hate you. This print is, as am sure you can tell, from the height of the boho-desert era of the early 2020s. The burnt orange, earthy feel appealed to me immensely back then (still does in a lot of ways), and is why Terracotta came to be. At the time, I wasn't creating a lot of patterns with just two colors, and I certainly was not creating much that could be considered neutral, so the simplicity of this print filled an important role the line-up at EBD. Once I had finally converted to arranging all my prints in rainbow order sometime in 2023, and started trying to have a print that could stand in for each color of the ROYGBIV rainbow, Terracotta took on the critical responsbility of holding down the orange spot. While A LOT (too many?) of my prints have orange elements and an overall warm feel, none of them really give orange in a meaningful way, and I haven't had success creating new designs that scream "orange" in all of Terracotta's life. While she has never been a best seller (and has been put on the chopping block by the EBD countless times), she has always been a favorite of mine, and a rare orange, neutral-passing print in my never-ending churn of bold, largely pink and beige patterns.
