Mill & Meadow Store Manager Position

Mill and Meadow is hiring for the position of full-time store manager! This position is in-person and candidates must be local to Durham, North Carolina, with the ability to transport yourself to Mill & Meadow at 905 W Main Street, Durham, NC, 27701.

Job duties for this position include:

  • Supervise the store 5 days per week, including one weekend day, 11am to 7pm (times may adjust as needed, hours will remain 40 per week)
  • Provide assistance as needed to customers in the store
  • Check-out customers who are making purchases
  • Answer the store phone and provide assistance as needed to customers
  • Retrieve shipments of new merchandise from our warehouse to bring to M&M
  • Create listings to add new merchandise to our online store
  • Barcode/price tag inventory 
  • Update and track inventory periodically to ensure that our online inventory numbers match the quantities of items in the store
  • Notify the team when items go out of stock at the store and the warehouse and need to be reordered
  • Restock items that can be replenished from the warehouse when needed at the store
  • Make suggestions for new products and brands to bring into the store
  • Keep the Mill and Meadow Instagram and Facebook pages up to date with posts at least 3 times per week with the aim of growing our social media reach
  • Create original and creative displays of products in the store in accordance with new product themes and seasons
  • Revamp the front window display every 2 months in accordance with the season and upcoming holidays
  • Create original signage and other promotional materials for display in the store to help customers learn about our products and encourage them to purchase
  • Prep and lead in-store sales including our bi-/tri-annual bin sales
  • Occasionally lead, coordinate, and plan events that will drive interest and traffic into the store, potentially including creative workshops, holiday themed events, and pop up markets in the Brightleaf Square courtyard
  • Make creative suggestions for promotions and events in the store
  • Train new store team members as needed
  • Keep the store organized and clean; including cleaning the floors, taking recycling and trash to the dumpsters behind the building, and frequently cleaning table tops and surfaces

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is creative and has an eye for style, design, and merchandising
  • Has retail and merchandising experience
  • Has social media management experience
  • Takes initiative and brings new ideas to the table
  • Has a strong visual attention to detail
  • Is flexible and willing to take on a position at a growing and ever-changing company
  • Is comfortable working largely alone at the store
  • Enjoys in-person customer interaction
  • Loves the products we offer at Mill and Meadow!


Pay and Benefits

$18 per hour with opportunities for pay raises
